An interior stylist and her husband have successfully renovated their outdated 1950s kitchen in Buckinghamshire into a stylish and functional space. Initially burdened by dark and oppressive decor characteristic of the 1980s, including a bulky yellow cooker hood and pine units, Anna Mackie-East sought an update that would brighten their home and accommodate their family's needs.

Instead of a complete overhaul of their ground floor, they opted for phase one, focusing on the kitchen. With a keen eye for design developed through her career, Anna utilized mood boards and samples to refine their vision. The couple aimed for plenty of hidden storage to maintain clear work surfaces, understanding that practicality is key in family spaces.

Their selected materials included a quartz worktop that adds elegance, while a newly designed layout optimizes kitchen functionality. Despite challenges like an immovable chimney affecting the configuration, Anna’s careful planning and creative solutions have resulted in a kitchen that combines modern aesthetics with family-oriented usability.
