A Journey into Grilling

Reflecting on the past, a rusty old grill, once owned by my late father, became a pivotal point in my life, igniting a passion for barbecue and cooking over fire. This journey began after years of neglect as my father had intended to use it for family meals, but his illness cut that short. Upon becoming a father myself, the urge to grill resurfaced, leading me to discover the joys of cooking. I dug the grill out from storage, and with it, I unearthed memories of my father. Through trial and error, I learned the nuances of grilling, from preparing various dishes like smash burgers to perfecting reverse-seared tri-tip.

Eventually, I recognized the need for an upgrade to enhance my grilling experience. Fortunately, a sale at Costco allowed me to purchase a Weber grill, widely regarded as one of the best on the market. This transition not only represented an upgrade in quality but also served as a symbolic gesture of carrying my father's legacy forward—a way to honor the moments we lost. My father’s old grill will now be passed back to my mother, where it will continue to be a reminder of the cooking adventures we almost shared.
